Making your gift personal
Written by Hudson Flower Shop
So often clients will call to request a highly personal gift. They will give us all of the usual information and occassionally ask us for a recommendation and end up choosing a standard design from our website. I get it! All flowers are beautiful. The flowers are a personal touch that convey so many feelings and emotions that the flowers alone are meaningful. But if you allow, let me make a suggestion on how to make your flowers even more personal.
1. Choose birth flowers: Just like birthstones, every month of the year has designated birth flowers. Instead of choosing a generic mixed arrangement, center the design around the recipient’s birth month—or combine the birth flowers of their children, grandchildren, or partner into a beautiful "family garden" bouquet.
2. Have you heard of Floriography? The Victorian Language of Flowers?: In the Victorian era, flowers were used to send coded messages. You can use this traditional symbolism to write a small guide that accompanies the arrangement, explaining exactly why you chose each element:
Just to name a few. Ask Google to share the meaning of a favorite flower or ask Google to share the flower associated with a specific emotion. Either way you can not loose!
3. Favorite Flowers: Choose flowers tied to a favorite place or trip. Did you travel to Hawaii for your Anniversary... why not share some tropical Hawaiian blooms Did your dad always share a specific flower with your mom? Did your grandma have a vase of garden flowers on her table. Or what about recreating a past moment. Share the flowers from your wedding bouquet with your love.
4. Upgrade the Vessel to a keepsake: Maybe shoose a teapot for your mom who loves tea. How about a watering can for your girlfriend who loves plants. Or how about a milk glass vase or red wing pottery for the perfect vintage feel.
5. Pair the flowers with a perfect and toughtful add-on. Maybe a fragrance basket that includes soap and lotion, Locally made chocolates from our neighboring chocolatier, or garden decor for a memorable keepsake.
Finally make sure you share your thoughtfulness on the enclosure card message. For example include a verse similar to this: "I am remember the time we shared on that Hawaiian vacation and how fragrant the orchids were during that trip".... or .... "I noticed that Daisies are your birth flower and I wanted to be certain to include some for you."
Your florist is always in your corner for thoughtful designs, meaningful gifts and a wonderful experience. At Hudson flower Shop we want to be your first choice for flowers. Give us a call and experience the difference.
